Cooperator and Contract UAS Operations

DOI Cooperator Operations follow Departmental Manual 351 Chapter 4
Secretarial Order 3379 prohibits the purchase, contract, and operation of covered UAS by DOI entities, with exceptions for Emergency Operations and Emergency Readiness.
Generally, non-DOI entities such as hobbyists, universities, or commercial organizations operating UAS on DOI lands are not impacted by SO3379, provided their operations are not under DOI Operational Control. Any UAS operation must still comply with FAA and local land use policy.
